Retouching
I fondly consider this to be my first ever retouch back in the early 90’s before I even knew there was a term for what I was doing.
After acquiring Photoshop in 1990 I'd been using the software primarily for illustration and basic colour correction prepossess, but hadn't yet realised its full potential.
My boss at the time (Martin Howard) was a packshot photographer and was always unhappy with the mockups and models he was given to shoot. Initially I was only asked to repreproduce the the chocolate swirl for the top of the packaging, soon the list of demands grew and I eventually produced the image (middle bottom).
Off the back of this, the folling week Martin re-mortgaged his house and invested £250,000 on a highend system (BARCO Creator) complete with a Crossfield drum scanner and an HK 4x11 transparency writer and the company Electric Paint was founded.
