The brief was to create a fly’s eye view of a car windscreen a mili-second before the moment of impact. After a quick less than satisfactory CGI test I opted to produce the image as a 2D composite in Photoshop. I made a mathematically accurate hexagonal grid calculating the degree to which each lens shouldbe offset by, then utilizing the ‘Spherize’ filter extruding and convexing each segment proportionately.
Unfortunately the ad was only used in magazines and Sunday supplements as the image turned out to be a ‘Magic Eye’ picture and could’ve quite possibly led to carnage on the roadsof the UK - life to imitating art.
